The beaches of Mar Menor are all sandy, without tides, big waves and currents. As the beach here sinks very gradually (it is only 1 to 1.5 meters deep for the first 50 meters from the shore), Mar Menor is very suitable for children and the elderly. In high season the beaches are monitored by lifeguards.

The air quality is very beneficial for asthmatic children. It is also excellent for snowbirds escaping winter.
